About the Big Game Fishing in Rodrigues Aboard a Pirogue or Rapid Boat

Set off towards the West of Rodrigues to Baie Malgache where your exciting fishing adventure awaits you. You will be accompanied by experienced guides and will receive a life jacket so you can relax in the company of experts who will handle everything.

You will get to choose between a 24ft Pirogue and a 19ft Rapid Boat. The fishing boats are excellently equipped for your fishing adventure with a GPS, Echo sounder etc. Both boats feature a foldable sun-canopy so regardless of your choice, you are guaranteed a comfortable ride.

All fishing equipment will be provided on board for both trolling and deep-line fishing, so you do not have to worry about bringing your own rods and equipment. Beginners are welcome to try this fishing activity since the friendly guides will be there with you at every step of the way.

If you are a beginner, it’s better to start with something less tiring, so go for the half-day package which lasts 5 hours but will give you the full fishing experience. If fishing is your hobby, then choose the full day big game fishing package which lasts for a full 8 hours, so you can enjoy fishing to your heart’s content.

You can choose to fish using the trolling method whereby one or more fishing lines, baited with lures or bait fish, are drawn through the water. Or, fish using the deep-line bait method where the line lured with bait is thrown deep in the water to maximise the chances of catching fish. If you’d prefer to fish with a jig (jigging), be sure to bring your own equipment for casting and jigging.

About the Fishing Methods

Trolling is a method of fishing where one or more fishing lines, baited with lures or bait fish, are drawn through the water.

This may be behind a moving boat, or by slowly winding the line in when fishing from a static position, or even sweeping the line from side-to-side, e.g. when fishing from a jetty.

The deep-line bait method is where the line lured with bait is thrown deep in the water to maximise the chances of catching fish with a longer line.

• You can bring your own equipment. It is advisable to bring any perishable material hooks, lures, bottom line, etc.

• Please note that clients will not get to keep the fish caught. Skipper may, at his discretion, offer a fish to the client.
