The kitesurfing lessons can be enjoyed from beginners to advanced-level surfers exploring the calm lagoon and waters of the South-West coast of Mauritius, precisely at Bel Ombre.

In order to make your first kitesurfing steps as easy as possible, the equipment which is used at the kitesurfing center is the latest of its kind and of the highest quality made especially for all levels of surfers. Plenty of storage space, a rescue boat & other services are available as well.

All the kitesurfing basic lessons take place in front of the kitesurfing center in a protected and spacious lagoon. This is certainly one of the best spots for kitesurfing in Mauritius, ideal with flat waters and waves further out at the reef.

The perfect calm shallow water inside the spacious lagoon offers the ideal conditions to practice the basic controls and skills of kitesurfing.

2 hours Discovery Lesson:

If you are still not quite ready to embark into a longer kitesurfing lesson, then this 2-hour discovery is a great way to go for an amazing experience while discovering our calm lagoon. This lesson can be completed in one day and can accommodate for maximum 2 surfers.

The 2 hours discovery lesson is ideal for first time surfers in our lagoon. This lesson offers the novices the very basic kitesurfing skills and the chance to have a “taste” of kitesurfing which can turn into a long lasting passion. It can also be enjoyed by the intermediary and advanced level surfers, a great way to practice their skills and knowledge of kitesurfing in our perfect lagoon.

Package options for the 2 hours Discovery lesson

• Private basis –This can be done on one-to-one basis with one of the professional guides
• Shared basis – done in groups of 2 people, accompanied by a kitesurfing expert

On all booked lessons (private or semi-private), the kitesurf equipment is included: kite, bar, board for waterstart level, helmet, shoes and wetsuit

6 hours Columbus Lesson:

This 6 hours lesson is ideal for beginners looking to learn more about kitesurfing, gaining more skills and a higher level of control. You would be introduced to the world of kitesurfing with special and private attention. Intermediary and advanced level surfers can also take up this lesson. It can be completed in one day only and can accommodate for maximum 2 surfers.

You will also be much more confident in controlling and maneuvering the kitesurf as well as riding the waves in the open sea and lagoon. This lesson is recommended for those who are looking for something extra than just a short taste of kitesurfing.

Package options for the 6 hours Columbus Lesson

• Private basis –This can be done on one-to-one basis with one of the professional guides
• Shared basis – done in groups of 2 people, accompanied by a kitesurfing expert

About the Mauritius Kitesurfing center

The kitesurfing center is located in the South West of Mauritius at the beautiful beach of Bel Ombre. The center is set on a beautiful spot with palm trees, clear beach, and beautiful turquoise lagoon creating a perfect setting.

The kite center is affiliated with the C Beach Club, where various amenities are available: modern changing rooms with warm water, sunbeds, pool, restaurant, bar, associated with an extensive vary of watersport activities.

To offer maximum security to guest surfers, the center has a rescue boat available at any time for any emergency, rescue or any other.

About the kitesurfing Location

Bel Ombre – the ultimate Kite Spot

Bel Ombre, located in the south-west of Mauritius, is still an untouched and small fisher-place. Being multifaceted, it is suited for beginners, mid-level or advanced kite-surfers. The lagoon is large, has flat water and waves reaching out to the reef, making it the ideal spot for families or friends.

Kitesurfing conditions in Bel Ombre

When the wind blows to the side of the shore from the left, it is perfect to take the kite to the 10pm position and walk 10-20m into the lagoon before starting. The whole area is surrounded by a reef line which is typical for Mauritius. The same is for Bel Ombre as it is separated into a wave spot and a really large area to stand.

This standing area, which is around 700m by 300m large, is ideal for beginners. As there are a few coral, you're advised to wear shoes for your own safety.

Beyond the reef, you will be facing the open sea with waves for advanced kiters. The GKA World Cup takes place in Bel Ombre as well.

This can be done on a one-to-one basis with one of the professional instructors which will also have his own kite. Once you are riding, i.e. kitesurfing left and right, riding upwind but you are not feeling confident enough to ride independently, the lesson is offered through walkie-talkie to supervise.

• You will get the opportunity to use the latest equipment: kite, bar, board, helmet and shoes.
• You will be much more confident in controlling and maneuvering the kitesurf as well as riding the waves in the open sea and lagoon.

Recommended to bring:

• Sea sandals or shoes

• Sun cream

• Towel

• Swim suit

• Spare clothes

• Minimum age requirement: 8 years and above
• Kitesurf equipment offered on all booked lessons (private or semi-private) such as kite, bar, board for waterstart level, helmet, shoes and wetsuit. Plenty of storage space, a rescue boat & other services are available as well
• Additional services available (for extra small cost): sun beds, pool, shower, beach towels, wifi, restaurant & bar as well any other non-motorized watersport like kayaking, and stand-up paddling. Booking in advance is desirable.
• A course participant must be in the best of health.
• The instructor may suspend a student from the course if he/she behaves dangerously or disturbs. In this case, the management will not refund any money.
• Material insurance is optional. If not taken, the total price for repairing the damaged equipment will be charged.
• The duration of the lesson will be reduced to 90 mins if there is only 1 student.
• The experienced kitesurf teachers are all VDWS or equivalent certified - the standard for secure & professional kitesurf lessons.
