Merville Beach Hotel - 3+ star hotel

Merville Beach Hotel - Hotel Overview

You've been meaning to commune more with nature. Pristine white sandy beaches and crystal clear lagoons to enthrall all your senses. The legendary northern coastline of Mauritius, cradling Merville Beach resort is just the spot. This lush three-star superior beach hotel in Mauritius, winner of Certificate of Excellence Award 2012 from TripAdvisor, is an oasis of calm.

Merville. A name will speak a thousand words. French for “seatown”, Merville Beach offers the perfect fusion of calm relaxing sea and vibrant bustling town for the ambivalent traveler. Complement your quiet early mornings of cushy relaxation on the serene beach with a lively boisterous night in the trendy seaside village of Grand Bay, famous for its active nightlife, restaurants, and shopping attractions. There is no need to venture too far, at Merville Beach all the excitement and wonder of the island is just a moment away.

Go a bit further with the name; you can conjure up “merveille” (marvel in French). What will most marvel you at Merville Beach is their extremely accommodating staff, ever adorned with a charming smile, as most visitors have commended—they even remember your names. Providing an impeccable service to treat you like sovereignty, falling within the general manager, Tony Duval’s philosophy for customer-kingship; “they have not learnt how to say no as yet.”

Enjoy spa treatments under the stars while the waves gently lap at the shores. Seriously unwind with a walk along the moonlit shoreline, dotted with coconut trees. Make use of the spacious conference room. Take advantage of complimentary water sports along the sandy shores of our beautiful lagoon. Play a game of tennis on the floodlit court. Sip a cocktail lounging on your beach bed, or surrender to soulful relaxation at LUX* ME Spa. Trust us, there is little time that you will spend inside your hotel room. Besides, Merville is one of the few 3-star hotels to have its own spa—and one facing the lagoon!

Merville is a resort that has beautifully preserved the island’s rich Creole heritage; with rooms and bungalows featuring traditional stone walls, bamboo thatched roofs and bright and harmoniously inviting décor, spread out through lush tropical gardens; it is a perfect mirror reflection of the vibrant color and energy of authentic island-living. It also has an outdoor pool with lagoon views, and offers air-conditioned guestrooms with balconies.

A themed buffet is prepared every night especially for you to enjoy a different dining experience every time the starry sky drops over at the Merville Beach. Have you been looking for it, here is the right spot to discover cuisines originating from all around the world.

Tip: In case you would want a special dinner menu to be prepared for you, kindly request it to the Mauritian chef and he will be the most pleased to do so. Should you also prefer to be served at table instead of serving yourself at the buffet, please inform the staff who will happily make arrangements for you. You can find a black board at the entrance of the restaurant with a table d’hote menu proposal for the following evening. This facility is offered in addition to the buffet free of charge and may be ordered as many times as required by a guest.

If you are looking for value for money, with a treatment like royalty, and scenery which is simply heavenly, then Merville is definitely the right place for you!

Merville Beach Hotel Facilities & Activities

SPORTS & LEISURE

Here all your daily stresses will feel like they're a million miles away. The only dilemma you might experience will be deciding which of the three swimming pools to slip into… or whether to lounge on the beach instead. Still there is plenty on offer to keep your days active.

Swimming Pool

Take a dip in the swimming pool. It offers one of the best viewing spots on the island-you can watch the sailboats coming in and the sun setting over the spectacular lagoon of Grand Bay, without leaving the coolness of the pool.

Water Sports

Make the most of every moment at the ocean with a range of complimentary water sports and activities available to all resort residents.

Land-Based Activities

For those looking for adventure on dry land, there's plenty of adrenalin-fuelled activities to keep you occupied. Try your hand at a leisurely round of pétanques or mini golf, or get competitive with a game of beach volleyball, ping pong or tennis. Visit LUX* Me Fitness for a dynamic array of tailor-made exercises, yoga classes and fitness programmes. Venture a little further afield into the lush tropical hillsides of the island with an exhilarating bike road through the local markets and villages or a scenic hike along the lush mountain passes.

Golf

The natural setting of the course, over rolling links style terrain, is complemented by excellent fairways and firm greens. A special feature is the volcanic rock, piled high to form pyramid like structures that dot the course. Plenty of water makes for many challenges and afternoon sea-breezes can make a difference of 2 or 3 clubs to your selection. The longest put is located at hole No. 10 with a distance of 566 yd.

SPA & WELLBEING

LUX*Me Spa and Fitness

At LUX* Me spa, it's all about you. Create your own integrated spa and fitness experience from the indulgent 'Me Time' Spa Menu or allow the skilful spa concierge and therapists to tailor-make an experience just for you. Merville Beach Hotel - Restaurants & Bars

Dining al fresco style has never looked so good. Forget fussy accoutrements and bring on a lighter hearted dining experience, inspired by authentic local flavours. Share a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach under star-lit skies. And if the sun isn't intoxicating enough, enjoy a cool sunset cocktail overlooking the ocean.

Le Badamier (7 a.m to 10 a.m / 12 p.m to 3 p.m / 7 p.m to 9.30 p.m)

Built around an old badamier tree, Le Badamier is surrounded by the bright flowers and emerald hues of tropical gardens. Unpretentious dishes inspired by Chinese, Creole and French traditions, draw on the many cultural influences of Mauritius. There's also a pizzeria tucked away in a corner, for when you all you crave is a crispy crust and melted cheese.
Tables d'hôte menus and gourmet barbecues are also a popular attraction, along with regular themed dinners to the crooning of local musicians and entertainers. And if you somehow can't find what you're looking for, then chances are it's on the tempting buffet heaped with fresh salads, sticky sweets and more.

La Terasse (10 a.m 1 a.m)

Languorously perched on the edge of the beach facing the lagoon, La Terasse offers beach service and a shady retreat, under a traditional thatched roof. As trendy beats skip out across the lagoon, quench your thirst with its very own island water packaged in sustainable, recyclable bottles. Or for something with a little more punch, try one of the exotic cocktails. They are a local specialty that will send your taste buds into orbit.

Beach and Room Service

It's not a truly perfect island holiday unless you're being served deliciously refreshing treats while lounging beside the pool, ocean or in the comfort of your room. Make the most of your stay with the beach and room service facilities.

Evening Entertainment

At Merville Beach, they don't do ordinary. All of the entertainment is performed by genuine, enthusiastic and highly talented dancers, musicians and artists of every kind. From the rhythmic beat of the Mauritian Sega to the very best local music troupes and performers, every evening is an opportunity to experience something new and truly authentic.

Dress Code

Although there's no particular dress code during the day, we do ask you not to wear uncovered swimming attire in the restaurant during breakfast time. Evening wear is smart-casual after 6pm. And gentlemen, no flip-flops or shorts in the restaurants and bars during dinnertime please.

Note: Opening and closing hours are subject to change without prior notice.
