History of Maison Eureka aka Eureka House

Dating back to around 1836 and nestled in the charming village of Moka, Eureka House is a treasure trove of history. It was originally constructed for Mr. Carr, a British aristocrat, and later found new owners in a second-generation Franco-Mauritian family.

Set between the majestic Mount Ory and a cascading river, this grand estate was built using local ebony and mahogany wood. Opened to the public as a museum in 1986, Eureka is filled with vintage furniture and quirky antiques.

Fun fact: it has 109 doors and windows!
